The "Anima Christi"
attributed to St Ignatius Loyola
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy sacred wounds hide me.
From the wicked enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come to thee
that with thy saints I may praise thee
forever and ever. Amen

St. Ignatius died on July 31,
1556. This is a portion of a Spanish
painting executed at the time of Ignatius' beatification. The
feast day of St. Ignatius, July 31, coincides with the
anniversary of his entrance into heaven.
